In a Wednesday morning report, Kuo shares how Apple experienced manufacturing issues with nearly every aspect of the new device’s design and production.

Kuo lists the issues faced by the Cupertino company, including “stacked CIS, panels, batteries (expanding when exposed to heat), and titanium frames.” Kuo says Apple resolved the stacked CIS issue by increasing production capacity. However, it is still seeing the issue affect approximately 10 to 15% of shipments on the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models.

Apple also resolved its screen issues by changing the supplier shipment ratio, while the battery and frame issues were resolved by improving production yield.

Kuo noted that Apple experienced titanium frame problems from the inherent difficulties faced when working with titanium in consumer electronics. Kuo said “high processing difficulty and significant design changes during development” were the causes of the initial issues. However, Kuo added that the titanium frame should contribute to a reduction in the weight of the device.

Kuo said the iPhone 15 Pro Max was the last iPhone 15 model to begin manufacturing, aligning with rumors that the Pro Max may ship a bit later than the other models.

Kuo also weighed in on the recently arisen subject of what colors will be available for both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models. Kuo claims that the “Pro colors may be gray, white, black, and blue. The regular colors may be black, pink, yellow, blue, and green.”

On Wednesday, a leaker suggested that the blue, silver, and metallic Apple logo on Apple’s invitations for its September “Wonderlust” iPhone event represents what will be the available color options for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, which will debut during the event.

Earlier this week, leakers @MajinBuOfficial and @URedditor also claimed Apple’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will be available in a new light green finish. However, the leakers added that it’s not a certainty that the new color will appear in September, suggesting it may debut later on as a new spring 2024 color option. Apple is known to make mid-cycle offerings of new iPhone colors, such as the yellow iPhone 14 and green iPhone 13.

Apple will debut its new iPhone 15 lineup at a media event on Tuesday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (1:00 p.m. Eastern Time). The event will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater located on the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.
