Tesla Teases Its Semi Truck Delivery Event Pin It
Four Tesla semis parked side-by-side in a parking lot.

After years of waiting, Pepsico will take delivery of the largest preorders of Tesla electric semi trucks on December 1st at the Tesla Gigafactory in Storey County, Nevada. The automaker announced the “Semi Delivery Event” in a tweet with the image of a lone Tesla semi on a dark, misty road.

Other than the date and location, Tesla gave no further details about the event. However, anyone who’s been following the five-year tale of the Tesla semi knows that Pepsico was the first company to order the 500-mile-range electric semis back in 2017. And after years of development and delays, Telsa CEO Elon Musk tweeted on October 6th that production was finally beginning and delivery would take place on December 1st.

Until today, nobody knew whether electric vehicle delivery would occur at a Pepsi facility or a Tesla plant. Now, we know that the handover will take place on Tesla’s turf.

Details about the semis have trickled out over the course of the year. Back in May, the automaker officially opened Semi truck reservations, signaling that the EVs would soon go into production. In June, the company showed off a prototype semi delivering Tesla’s own superchargers to a raceway in Laguna Seca, California. And just a couple of weeks ago, a video emerged of one of the semis in the wild reaching freeway speeds in just a few seconds in Siver Springs, Nevada.

While there aren’t many details about the delivery event available from Pepsico or Tesla, we expect that it will only be open to shareholders and that Elon Musk will likely be in attendance.
